Artesia Consulting's response to the Heat and Energy Saving consultation
In February 2009 the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) jointly published a consultation on 'Heat and Energy Saving Strategy'. This document set out the Government's vision up to 2020 and beyond, and sought views on a range of policies which could help to decarbonise the way we heat our homes and businesses, helping to reduce the UK's CO2 emissions and to contribute to the target of obtaining 20% of all EU energy from renewables by 2020.
Artesia Consulting have now responded to the consultation, and our submission to the “Heat and Energy Saving Strategy” consultation concentrates on the important opportunities for this strategy to embrace water efficiency as an integrated package of measures to deliver carbon reductions, energy efficiency and meet the requirements to mitigate climate change impacts.
Key issues are:
- The opportunity to achieve significant long term energy savings in the home are in inextricably linked to savings in hot water use.
- Achieving water efficiency in the home and in business, is in itself an important Government policy for meeting the challenges of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
- The delivery of both energy efficiency and water efficiency rely on the same “agents”, namely energy and water service companies, retailers and suppliers of goods, plumbers, and specialist service providers.
